The mission of Boonville High School is to create for all students an equitable, supportive environment conducive to learning and self-development. We will equip the students to do the following:
We accept the responsibility to facilitate growth in the above areas.
Boonville High School, the county's oldest high school, was built in 1958 and is located on a 34-acre site that borders North First Street in the city of Boonville. The first series of additions and remodeling were completed in 1976 with another major addition and remodeling project completed in 2000. In 1980 the school purchased a former factory located across the street from the main building, which housed the vocational education programs until the 2000 construction project was completed. The 2000 addition allowed the school to house all programs and classrooms in the main school building and renovated all existing classrooms.
The band room, auditorium, kitchen, and cafeteria were renovated in 1983. New additions, which included an indoor swimming pool with spectator seating, adjacent locker and dressing rooms, faculty office space and a gymnasium, were also completed in 1983. The 2000 construction project added a new wing for the technology education, agricultural science, a greenhouse and art classrooms. Besides the construction updates, technology improvements were also part of the 2000 project. The technology update included computer networking of the building, additional computer labs, and provided Internet access to each classroom.
The football stadium, a 400 meter 6 lane track, 5 lighted tennis courts, a baseball field, a softball field, and an indoor practice facility are located north and west of the main building. Boonville High School provides a comprehensive curricular and extracurricular program for its student body. The school is accredited by the North Central Accrediting Association and is a member of the Big Eight Athletic Conference.
Boonville High School currently has approximately 850 students attending. Sixty teachers and three counselors currently serve the student body. The current Principal of the "Pioneers" is Mr. Mike Whitten and the Assistant Principal is Mr. Keith Paige.
